The Power minister, Gottipati Ravi Kumar, has suggested a plan to enhance power generation for Andhra Pradesh by utilizing the Srisailam Hydel Power Project due to the increasing demand. He mentioned on Thursday that the Srisailam project has the capability to amplify power production as a result of the substantial inflow of floodwater into the reservoir. Alongside Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, the minister took part in the Jala Harati program at Srisailam on Thursday. Subsequently, he inspected the right bank hydel power project and conducted a review meeting with GENCO officials. During the meeting, officials disclosed that 100 million units of electricity were generated in July alone. Presently, all units are producing 15 to 16 million units of electricity daily. Officials indicated, “The target for August is 250 million units, with the potential to escalate it to 300 million units if the current floodwater flow persists.” The minister urged officials to concentrate on boosting power generation and highlighted the government’s dedication to realizing the objective of eliminating power shortages in Andhra Pradesh.
