In the latest update, Xiaomi, a prominent Chinese mobile phone manufacturer, has surpassed Samsung to secure the top spot in the Indian smartphone market, claiming a notable 19.3% share in the second quarter of 2024, as revealed by a report released on Tuesday. As per the India Mobile Handset Market Review report by Cyber Media Research for April-June, there was a 4% decline in the Indian smartphone market and a 3% overall decrease in mobile phone shipments compared to the previous year. The report highlighted that Xiaomi held 19.3% of the market, followed closely by Samsung at 18.5% and Vivo at 17%. Realme and OPPO secured the fourth and fifth positions with 13% and 9% shares, respectively. The CMR report also indicated that Apple made a notable entry into the smartphone market, capturing a 5% share, with the Apple iPhone 15 series accounting for 58% of its total shipments in the quarter. In the feature phone category, itel Mobile maintained its lead with a 35% share, while Lava outperformed Nokia to claim the second position with a 30% share.
