The Union Civil Aviation Minister, Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, has shown his support for para-badminton player Chapara Poorna Rao, who has been chosen to compete in an upcoming international para-badminton championship in Surakarta, Indonesia. Poorna Rao, residing in Tekkali, has demonstrated remarkable resilience by overcoming a serious spinal injury sustained in a road accident, excelling in para-badminton with seven international medals to his credit and currently holding the 33rd spot globally.
Approaching the minister on August 4th seeking financial assistance for his trip to Indonesia, Poorna Rao received a swift response from Naidu, who emphasized that neither disability nor poverty should impede talent. Within just two days, Naidu arranged a sponsorship of 1.5 lakh from the Dream 11 sports organization to cover Poorna Rao’s expenses for the tournament.
Expressing heartfelt gratitude for the minister’s support, the 21-year-old athlete stated, “I am confident that I will give my best to win a medal for our country.” Poorna Rao’s remarkable journey from adversity to athletic success stands as an inspiring example, highlighting the potential of individuals with disabilities to achieve success on the international stage.
