Andhra University registrar Prof. N. Kishore Babu has issued a directive to form a specialized committee, overseen by the V-C, to investigate grievances and accusations concerning several departments within Andhra University. The committee comprises key figures such as Prof. A. Narasimha Rao from AU Arts College, Prof. G. Girija Shankar from Pharmacy College, Prof. K. Basavaiah, the Research Development Dean, Prof. K. Venkata Rao from the Computer Science department, and Prof. K. Nageswara Rao, the head of the IT department.
The committee’s primary task is to scrutinize the management and supervision of first-year classes in the CSE and IT departments of the engineering college, faculty attendance in these departments, and claims of monetary fines being levied in exchange for hall tickets in Computer Science, IT departments, and the AU School of International Business. Additionally, in light of various news articles and social media discussions on teaching and non-teaching staff, the committee is urged to investigate other issues related to Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Technology-Computer Applications, Journalism, and Economics departments.
Members of the committee are instructed to engage with teaching staff, non-teaching staff, technical personnel, lab technicians, and students in departments where complaints have surfaced to gather comprehensive information. The order also emphasizes the importance of including recommendations to address the alleged problems in the departments within the final report. The committee has been given a deadline of August 19 to submit their findings in a sealed envelope as requested by the registrar.
