The shift in seasons has brought heavy rainfall to various parts of the country, leading to a significant rise in disease prevalence. Particularly, cases of Chikungunya and Dengue fever have been on the rise nationwide, affecting a growing number of individuals across different states. The primary cause of these illnesses is attributed to mosquito bites. Health experts emphasize that controlling mosquito populations is crucial in combating these diseases.

One of the main factors contributing to the proliferation of mosquitoes is the presence of stagnant water in the vicinity. Mosquitoes lay their eggs in standing water, which can be found in items like potted plants, old tires, and buckets, facilitating their reproduction. It is important to remain vigilant about water bodies such as canals and drains surrounding residences, as stagnant water can promote mosquito breeding. Addressing issues like leaky taps is essential to prevent water accumulation, which creates breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

To deter mosquitoes from entering homes, protective measures should be implemented. Using nets on doors and windows can help keep mosquitoes at bay, especially during the evening when they are most active. Keeping fans on and utilizing citronella candles or mosquito coils are effective methods to repel mosquitoes. Individuals prone to excessive sweating are at a higher risk of mosquito bites, so maintaining personal hygiene is advised. Additionally, wearing light-colored, long-sleeved clothing and using protective measures before bedtime can help prevent mosquito bites. By following these guidelines, individuals can reduce the risk of contracting diseases such as Dengue and Chikungunya and safeguard their health.
