Maria Branyas Moreira, the world’s oldest person, passed away at the age of 117 years and 168 days. Born on March 4, 1907 in America, Maria’s family relocated to Spain during her youth. She witnessed the turmoil of two world wars and bravely faced the recent global Covid epidemic. Her family has confirmed her recent demise, a loss acknowledged by Guinness World Records.

Following Maria’s passing, Japan’s Tomika Ituka, aged 116, now holds the title of the world’s oldest person. Known for her passion for mountaineering, Tomika Ituka has twice conquered the 3,067-meter Mount Ontake in Japan.
