She witnessed the turmoil of two world wars and bravely faced the recent global Covid epidemic. Her family has confirmed her recent demise, a loss acknowledged by Guinness World Records.
Following Maria’s passing, Japan’s Tomika Ituka, aged 116, now holds the title of the world’s oldest person. Known for her passion for mountaineering, Tomika Ituka has twice conquered the 3,067-meter Mount Ontake in Japan.
