It can be said that ‘Mahindra Thar’ is one of the most selling SUVs in the market. A new version SUV called ‘Mahindra Thar Rocks’ from this company was recently launched in the Indian market. Available at a starting price of Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom), this SUV comes in a 5-door model, offering an extended version of the Mahindra Thar 3-door model. The company has announced that the Thar Rocks will be sold with a 3-door Thar version.
Thor Versus Thor Rox – Design, Color Options:
Compared to the 3-door Thar version, the Thar Rox comes with a completely new design. Features like C-shaped LED DRLs, LED headlamps, taillamps, and a new front grille give the Thor Rox a stylish edge. The side profile showcases new diamond-cut alloy wheels, longer and wider running boards, squared rear wheel arches, and rear-mounted quarter-glass, accentuating the contrast between the Thar models. Thar Rox offers seven color options while the 3-door Thar is available in just five color choices.
Thor Versus Thor Rox – Features, Size:
The Thor Rox version is not inferior to the 3-door Thar model. With a length of 443 mm and an extremely wide, long wheelbase, Mahindra has designed the Thar Rocks for a comfortable and smooth ride. Unique features like a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated seating, premium Harman Kardon sound system, and an upgraded digital cockpit with dual screens enhance the driving experience. Safety features include airbags for the driver, passenger, side seats, and curtains to ensure protection in challenging situations.
Powertrain Options:
Mahindra Thar Rocks is available in diesel and petrol variants. The petrol variant with manual transmission delivers 152hp and 330Nm of torque, while the automatic variant produces 177hp and 380Nm of torque. The base 2.2-litre diesel engine in the Mahindra Thar Rox generates 162hp and 330Nm of torque, with higher-spec models providing 175hp and 370Nm of torque with 4X4 powertrain options. On the other hand, the 3-door Thar offers a 1.5-litre engine producing 116hp and 300Nm of torque, along with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol variant with 151hp and 320Nm of torque.
Thor Versus Thor Rox – Price:
The 3-door Thar model variants are priced between Rs. 11.35 lakh to Rs. 17.60 lakh, while the starting price of Thar Rox is Rs. 12.99 lakhs. The top-spec RWD variant is priced at Rs 20.49 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom).
