Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi, riding high on the success of “Maharaja,” has reportedly turned down an offer to portray a father figure in an upcoming film by Ram Charan, under the direction of Buchi Babu. A source from Chennai revealed that Sethupathi declined the role citing his previous portrayals as a father in “Maharaja” and a stern patriarch in “Uppena” opposite Krithi Shetty, expressing concerns about being typecast.
Subsequently, the filmmakers have apparently enlisted Kannada superstar Shivraj Kumar for the pivotal role. The source emphasized Kumar’s ability to tackle significant characters and mentioned his collaboration with Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor in the project.
Despite lucrative offers, Vijay remained steadfast in his decision, rejecting the opportunity as he aimed to diversify his Telugu projects and awaited unique roles. Following the massive success of “Maharaja,” where Sethupathi played a leading role, he is keen on continuing to essay protagonist characters in his future endeavors, with the film garnering acclaim even in the Telugu industry and expanding his fanbase.
Having made his Telugu debut in “Uppena,” Vijay Sethupathi showcased his acting prowess by portraying a ruthless feudal lord consumed by the caste system and familial honor.
