Apple has distributed invitations for a forthcoming product launch event scheduled for September 9 at its headquarters. The event is poised to unveil details about the iPhone 16 and other fresh devices. The venue for the presentation is confirmed to be the esteemed Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park in Cupertino, California. The event’s theme, dubbed “It’s Glow time,” alludes to the new Siri digital assistant’s interface featured on the latest devices from the tech giant.
Anticipated features of the iPhone 16 include enlarged screens on the Pro models and innovative camera functionalities, including a dedicated photo capture button. A pivotal aspect of the keynote address will be the exploration of Apple Intelligence, the company’s array of AI capabilities set to be accessible across all new iPhone models.
In addition to the new iPhones, Apple is gearing up for substantial revisions to its smartwatch collection and updated Air Pods offerings. The upcoming iteration of the standard Apple Watch will boast larger displays and a sleeker profile. Notably, Apple is also in the works to introduce a plastic variant of its low-end Watch SE for the first time.
Apple is in the process of developing two new Air Pods iterations: a fresh low-end model to succeed the 2019 version, alongside a replacement for the mid-tier Air Pods introduced in 2021. Both models will showcase redesigned aesthetics reminiscent of the Air Pods Pro, while the mid-range variant will feature noise cancellation for the first time.
This event holds significant importance for Apple as it relies on these new product launches to stimulate growth in its iPhone and wearable device segments. Meanwhile, Apple’s Chief Financial Officer Luca Maestri is slated to step down from his position by year-end, passing the torch to deputy Kevan Parekh after more than a decade. Parekh, a 52-year-old of Indian descent, is set to assume the CFO role on January 1, 2025, in what Apple has described as a carefully planned succession. Maestri, who has served as CFO since 2014, will continue to be part of Apple in a reduced capacity, overseeing information technology and real estate functions within the company.
