The Union government is gearing up to introduce a simplified pension application form for its retiring employees this Friday. This endeavor is a key component of the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare’s 100-day action plan within the NDA 3 government, aligning with its “maximum governance, minimum government” approach.

The new form has been crafted by amalgamating various existing forms and templates, thereby alleviating the paperwork load on retiring employees. Instead of having to tackle multiple forms during the pension application process, employees will now be able to utilize a consolidated form that merges nine different forms into a singular, streamlined document.

In a recent announcement, the DoPPW hailed the new form and the associated enhancements to the Bhavishya pension processing system as a significant breakthrough. The revamped process simplifies pension form submission to a single signature and facilitates the complete digitization of the pension process, starting from submission to the initiation of pension payments. This transition aims to phase out paper-based protocols and offer a more user-friendly interface for pensioners, eradicating concerns about missing or incorrectly completed forms.

The new form will be accessible through the Bhavishya and e-HRMS online platforms for all Central government employees who are retiring in December 2024 and beyond. Employees using e-HRMS will complete Form 6-A through the system, while those not utilizing e-HRMS will opt for Bhavishya. e-HRMS, standing for Electronic Human Resource Management System, serves as a digital platform for managing employee records and enhancing operational efficiency. On the other hand, Bhavishya functions as a system for pension sanction and payment tracking.

The official launch of the new form and its integration with Bhavishya and e-HRMS will be overseen by Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions, Jitendra Singh, on Friday.
