Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan has encouraged all citizens to actively engage in the ‘Vana Mahotsavam’ program launched by the Andhra Pradesh government throughout the state in Vijayawada on Friday. Emphasizing the significance of social responsibility, the Deputy Chief Minister appealed to individuals to plant a large number of saplings across the state. The NDA alliance government’s objective is to raise the green cover from the current 29 percent to 50 percent in the state. To accomplish this goal, Pawan emphasized the need for everyone to plant saplings in their respective areas and ensure their protection. Stressing the value of planting native saplings, he highlighted that these species would promote biodiversity, enhance soil quality, and contribute to environmental and human health preservation. Pawan recommended that people focus on planting indigenous and local tree species such as the Pongame oil tree, Neem, Sacred fig, Tamarind, Indian sandalwood, Burflower tree, Banyan, Ashoka, Java plum, and other native varieties during the Vana Mahotsavam event.
