Indian Railways has unveiled a new era of high-speed train travel with the introduction of Vande Bharat trains across the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently flagged off three new Vande Bharat trains, connecting Meerut to Lucknow, Madurai to Bangalore, and Chennai to Nagercoil, marking a significant milestone in the development of India’s railway infrastructure.
Addressing the importance of enhancing rail connectivity in southern states, PM Modi emphasized the role of these new trains in promoting rapid growth and achieving India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047. The Vande Bharat trains are equipped with the latest technology, offering passengers a faster and more efficient mode of transportation.
The new Meerut City-Lucknow Vande Bharat train is set to reduce travel time by an hour compared to the existing fastest train on the route, while the Chennai Egmore-Nagarcoil and Bengaluru Vande Bharat trains will save passengers more than two hours and 1.30 hours, respectively. Despite the significant time savings, the fares for these high-speed trains remain unchanged.
In his address, PM Modi reiterated the government’s commitment to providing a comfortable and modernized railway experience for all passengers. He highlighted the ongoing efforts to upgrade railway facilities and expand connectivity to benefit passengers from all walks of life.
Furthermore, PM Modi announced plans for the introduction of sleeper versions of Vande Bharat trains, aimed at enhancing the travel experience for passengers. The government has allocated over Rs. 2.5 lakh crore in this year’s budget for various railway projects, including electrification of lines and the construction of new routes.
The introduction of Vande Bharat trains symbolizes a new chapter in Indian Railways’ journey towards modernization and efficiency, with a focus on providing a safe, reliable, and convenient mode of transportation for all.
