Over the weekend, numerous coastal districts in Andhra Pradesh experienced heavy to very heavy rainfall due to a depression in the West Central Bay of Bengal. The forecast indicates the likelihood of more rain as the depression is expected to make landfall early Sunday. In response to the inclement weather, the government announced a school holiday in the affected areas.

The India Meteorological Department has issued predictions of heavy to very heavy rainfall on September 1 in specific regions such as Kurnool, NTR, Palnadu, and Nandyal districts, with heavy rains anticipated in other areas like ASR, Eluru, West Godavari, East Godavari, and more. Red warnings have been issued in multiple locations across the state.

A well-marked low-pressure area off the coasts of north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha intensified into a depression, moving west-northwestward. The system is projected to cross the coasts between Visakhapatnam and Gopalpur, affecting regions including Krishna, Guntur, Palnadu, NTR, and others with heavy to extremely heavy rains.

IMD Director in Amaravati, S. Stella, highlighted the significant rainfall impacting various districts on Saturday, emphasizing the ongoing nature of the weather system’s influence.
