In a recent development aimed at bolstering women’s safety in Telangana hotels, orders have been issued mandating the verification of ID proofs for all visitors. The directive emphasizes that individuals must present valid identification and adhere to the established protocols. Furthermore, hotels are required to maintain CCTV footage for a minimum of 90 days, with regular monitoring to ensure operational effectiveness.
The Director General of Telangana Women’s Safety, Shika Goyal, convened a meeting with Oyo Room organizers to address pertinent issues surrounding hotel management. Law enforcement officials engaged with several hotel managements, particularly those associated with Oyo rooms, cautioning against any actions that compromise women’s safety. Stricter measures will be enforced in cases of non-compliance.
Key recommendations emerged during the discussions, including the importance of ID verification, continuous CCTV surveillance, and the implementation of emergency protocols. It was stressed that emergency contact numbers should be prominently displayed within hotel premises to facilitate swift responses in crisis situations.
Recognizing the pivotal role of staff training, hotels are urged to conduct regular sessions focusing on women’s safety procedures. Special security arrangements for female guests are encouraged, with an emphasis on reporting any suspicious activities promptly to the management.
To enhance digital security, guests now receive detailed safety instructions via email and SMS at the time of booking. This comprehensive policy framework aims to cultivate a secure environment within Telangana hotels, elevating safety standards across the board.
Collaborating closely with local law enforcement, the Women’s Safety Division remains dedicated to the enforcement and evaluation of these guidelines. A recent meeting in Hyderabad saw participation from various Oyo Rooms managers and anti-human trafficking officers, underscoring the collective commitment to ensuring women’s safety.
