In a recent turn of events in Peddapalli district, a heart-wrenching story of parental neglect has come to light, sparking a wave of concern among the community. Gaddam Bapureddy, a resident of Pedichinthalapalli village, made a generous gesture by gifting his son, Gaddam Swami Reddy, 6 acres of land. However, as time passed, it became clear that Swami Reddy was failing to fulfill his duty of caring for his father’s well-being.
Peddapalli district officials received complaints from Bapureddy about his son’s neglect, prompting an investigation by the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO). After counseling Swami Reddy and observing no improvement in his behavior, Bapureddy took a bold step by applying to cancel the gift deed in his son’s name. The subsequent inquiry conducted by the Collector confirmed the son’s negligence and invoked the Elderly Welfare Act-2007 to rectify the situation.
The Collector’s decision to transfer the land back to Bapureddy’s name and allocate a monthly maintenance fund of Rs. 10,000 to Swami Reddy and his sister, Singireddy Latha, underscores the importance of upholding parental care responsibilities. The swift enforcement of the orders serves as a reminder that legal action will be taken against those who disregard the well-being of their elderly parents.
