A shocking incident unfolded in Kerala when a 47-year-old woman, Lata of Panniode, was arrested for trying to smuggle ganja into Viyyur Central Jail to her son, Harikrishnan, who is incarcerated under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act. The excise team discovered 80 grams of ganja hidden in her handbag during a routine search. Lata confessed to attempting to bring cannabis to her son and admitted to doing so on previous occasions.
The authorities’ swift action resulted in Lata’s arrest and subsequent release on station bail after interrogation. This incident raises questions about the thin line between a mother’s unconditional love and misguided actions that can have serious legal repercussions.
