Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has assured full support from the Centre to Andhra Pradesh to address the ongoing flood crisis in Vijayawada. Arriving on Thursday, Chouhan inspected the affected areas, including the Prakasam barrage and the breached sections of the Budameru canal, accompanied by Central Minister of State for Rural Development Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, State Minister Nara Lokesh, and other officials.
The team waded through neck-deep water and engaged with the affected residents. Chouhan also toured a photo exhibition organized by the state government, which illustrated the extent of the damage caused by the floods.
Speaking to the media, Chouhan commended the state government for its innovative use of drones to deliver food and milk to flood-affected areas, noting that this approach was a first in such situations in the country. He also praised Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for his tireless efforts to visit the impacted regions and coordinate relief efforts.
Chouhan emphasized that the primary challenge now is to manage sanitation, clean up mud from homes, and undertake other restoration activities. He affirmed that Prime Minister Modi believes serving the people is akin to paying reverence to God, and assured that the Centre will provide all necessary support to Andhra Pradesh to overcome the crisis.
