The Telugu states of Mahabubabad, Khammam, and Bhadradri Kothagudem in Telangana, along with Vijayawada, are currently facing the wrath of heavy rains and floods. The situation has become critical as rivers and bends are overflowing due to the incessant downpour. The government has issued alerts and ordered the evacuation of residents from flooded areas to ensure their safety.
In Mahabubabad, Khammam, and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts, the heavy rains have caused chaos, with Mahabubabad town recording a staggering 18 cm of rainfall. The Jillella river in Chinnagudur mandal is overflowing, leading to disruptions in traffic between various areas. The situation is equally dire in Khammam city, where a high alert has been sounded due to torrential rains.
The authorities are on high alert, especially in Munneru, where the threat of floods looms large. Ministers Bhatti Vikramarka, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, and Tummala Nageswara Rao have taken swift action to ensure the safety of residents in the affected regions. Propaganda efforts are underway to guide people to safer locations, and Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka personally visited Khammam to oversee the relief operations.
As the rains continue to pour down in Vijayawada, officials are actively relocating residents from flooded areas to prevent any casualties. The flood flow in Budameru has raised concerns, prompting a teleconference among district officials. Collector Srijana has advised moving victims to rehabilitation camps to avoid floodwater entering dump areas.
