In a surprising revelation, it has come to light that Tejashwi Yadav, the younger son of former Union Minister Lalu Yadav, once harbored aspirations of a cricketing career before making his mark in Bihar politics. Tejashwi’s journey from the cricket pitch to the political arena is filled with intriguing anecdotes and connections, particularly his association with Team India’s star batsman, Virat Kohli.

Tejashwi’s cricketing endeavors began in Delhi, where he actively pursued professional cricket for several years. However, faced with limited opportunities in the capital, he made a pivotal decision to move to Jharkhand in pursuit of his sporting dreams. Despite his dedication to the game, unforeseen circumstances eventually led to the premature end of his cricketing career.

What many are unaware of is the close bond shared between Tejashwi Yadav and Virat Kohli during their cricketing days. Tejashwi himself recently shed light on their connection, revealing that Kohli had once played under his captaincy. This revelation offers a unique glimpse into the shared history of these two individuals who straddled both the cricket field and the political arena.

Tejashwi’s journey in cricket coincided with his father’s tenure as the Railways Minister in the Union government, further underscoring the familial ties to the sport. His stint with the Delhi Daredevils in the inaugural season of the IPL marked a significant milestone in his cricketing career, even though it concluded in 2010 when he transitioned into the realm of politics.

Despite not having the opportunity to showcase his talent in the IPL or the Delhi senior cricket team, Tejashwi continued to pursue his passion for cricket by joining the Jharkhand Cricket Association. However, a series of knee injuries impeded his progress, ultimately leading to his retirement from the sport after a brief stint that saw him score 37 runs across all formats.

Since bidding farewell to cricket, Tejashwi has emerged as a prominent figure in Bihar politics, following in the footsteps of his illustrious parents, Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi. His meteoric rise within the Rashtriya Janata Dal culminated in him becoming the youngest Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and subsequently assuming the role of Leader of Opposition in the Assembly.

As Bihar gears up for upcoming Assembly elections, Tejashwi stands poised to lead his party once again, showcasing a seamless transition from the cricket field to the political arena with unwavering determination and leadership.
