The Andhra Pradesh government has made a groundbreaking decision regarding the free supply of sand. Jivo, a key player in the industry, has announced a revision in the tariff structure, aimed at easing the burden of transport costs for consumers under the state’s free sand policy.

In a strategic move to regulate sand transport charges, the Chandrababu-led AP government has implemented a uniform pricing system across the state. Following consultations with sand transport vehicle owners, the government has finalized the transport tariff structure.

According to the new regulations, the government will charge Rs 13.5 per ton per kilometer for tractors weighing up to 4.5 tonnes and traveling up to 10 km. Similarly, six-tire trucks will incur a charge of 10 rupees per ton per kilometer, while trucks weighing up to 10 tonnes will pay 70 paise per ton for the same distance. For heavier vehicles like 10, 12, or 14-tire trucks up to 35 tonnes, the tariff is set at 9.40 rupees per tonne per kilometer.

Moreover, a convenient option for home delivery of sand is available for online bookings, with lorries designated for transportation to consumers’ residences. To facilitate this process, lorry owners interested in participating must register their vehicles with the Department of Mines, as instructed by district collectors.

The initiative has seen a positive response, with 3 thousand lorry owners already registering their vehicles in all districts. Equipped with GPS tracking, the government ensures that sand deliveries are closely monitored to prevent any unauthorized diversions.
