Enhancing Tourism and Cultural Exchanges: Highlights from the Andhra Pradesh Vietnam Tourism Conclave 2024

The Andhra Pradesh Vietnam Tourism Conclave 2024 took place in Vijayawada with the aim of boosting tourism and fostering cultural exchanges between the two regions. Key figures such as Tourism, Culture, and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh and Nguyen Thanh Hai, the Ambassador of Vietnam to India, along with 200 stakeholders from the tourism industry, collaborated on strategies to enhance tourism opportunities between Andhra Pradesh and Vietnam.

During the conclave, a significant announcement was made regarding the launch of direct flights between Andhra Pradesh and Vietnam by Viejet Airlines. Minister Durgesh expressed optimism about the conclave marking the inception of a prosperous partnership that would not only boost tourism but also strengthen economic and cultural ties between the regions. He outlined his vision for Andhra Pradesh as a diverse tourist destination and highlighted the state’s efforts to establish international tourism connections, particularly with Vietnam.

Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai emphasized Vietnam’s appeal to Indian tourists due to its UNESCO-listed sites and cultural heritage that resonates with ancient Indian culture. He pointed out the convenience offered by Vietnam’s e-visa system and anticipated a surge in tourist numbers through the introduction of direct flights, aiming to surpass one million Indian visitors. Viejet Airlines disclosed plans to establish direct connections between Andhra Pradesh and major Vietnamese cities to promote both tourism and business travel.

Potluri Bhaskar Rao, President of the AP Chamber of Commerce, underscored the economic advantages of international collaborations in tourism. He called for targeted marketing strategies and mutual tourism events to showcase the unique attractions of both regions. Delegates engaged in discussions covering various topics such as potential tourism marketing partnerships, sustainable tourism development, and enriching travel experiences through cultural exchanges.

Minister Kandula Durgesh instructed officials from the AP Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) to focus on developing and promoting tourism and tourist destinations within the state. Emphasizing the untapped tourism potential of the state, he urged the effective utilization of social media platforms to promote tourist spots. He suggested collaboration with the Film Development Corporation to screen short films promoting tourism in theaters.

Furthermore, the minister approved proposals for hosting events like Visakha Utsav, Bheemili Utsav, Flamingo Festival, Araku Balloon Festival, Nagaya Lanka Boat Race, F1H20 Formula Boat Race, Kakinada Beach Festival, Lepakshi Festival, and other events to boost tourism in Andhra Pradesh.
