Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s US visit has kicked off in a vibrant manner. Modi was warmly greeted at the historic Philadelphia Airport before heading to attend the Quad conference. The Prime Minister’s itinerary includes meeting with the Indian diaspora in New York on Sunday, September 22.

This visit marks Modi’s first trip to the US since beginning his third term as Prime Minister, and the reception has been nothing short of grand. Among the highlights was Modi’s arrival at the Philadelphia airport, where a large gathering of expatriate Indians welcomed him with enthusiasm. Modi graciously interacted with NRIs, signing autographs and accepting gifts from them.

One of the key events on Modi’s agenda is the Quad Heads of State Summit in Delaware, where he will engage in discussions with US President Biden on bilateral relations. The possibility of negotiations on a drone deal between the two countries is also on the table, with the conference being spearheaded by President Joe Biden.

In addition to these official meetings, Modi is scheduled to participate in the Indian diaspora conference in York, where around 14,000 expatriate Indians are expected to attend. The event will feature a lineup of 382 national and international artists, including notable figures like Grammy Award nominee Chandrika Tandon and Star Voice of India winner Aishwarya Mazumdar showcasing various cultural arts on the main stage of Pravasa Bharatiya Samadhas.

A highlight of Modi’s visit will be his keynote speech at the United Nations House of Representatives, underscoring the significance of his presence during the US presidential election period. There are prospects for Modi to engage with leaders from both the Democratic and Republican Parties, in addition to conducting crucial bilateral meetings throughout his stay.
