Rising Incidents of Domestic Violence in Hyderabad’s Old Town

The incidents of domestic violence in Hyderabad’s old town are escalating at an alarming rate. Numerous women have been seen rushing past the local police station, reporting that their husbands are subjecting them to harassment. Interestingly, some are turning to Asaduddin Owaisi for support. One recent case involved a woman who reached out to Owaisi seeking protection. She pleaded with Owaisi, citing that her husband had a biryani hotel established with Owaisi’s assistance, making it his responsibility to intervene. Despite her repeated appeals to the police yielding no results, she implored Owaisi to intervene and guide her husband. In response, Owaisi publicly expressed his dissatisfaction with the hotel owner in a public gathering.

Moreover, a significant number of women in the old town are voicing their grievances to MIM leaders. They recount tales of relentless harassment and abuse by their spouses, leading them to tears. Conversely, some husbands claim their wives are targeting MIM leaders. A disturbing incident occurred on a Sunday night when a mother-in-law confronted her brother-in-law for harassing her sister in the Golconda region. These distressing occurrences are prevalent in the Old Basti area, prompting MIM leaders to engage with affected women and address their issues.
