On 26th July, the peaceful town of Parvathipuram was abuzz with excitement as the close relatives of Manamma gathered for what should have been a joyous occasion – the wedding ceremony of her daughter, Hepsiba. Little did they know that the events that would unfold that day would shatter their trust and tarnish the happiness of the celebration.

Devabattula Dhanalakshmi, along with her sons Devabattula Lakshman and Nagamahesh, and daughter Devi, arrived at Manamma’s house from Rajahmundry. What seemed like a friendly visit soon took a sinister turn when Dhanalakshmi proposed that Hepsiba be married to her son, Lakshman.

As the families deliberated on this proposal, a shadow of doubt loomed over the gathering. The next morning, when Dhanalakshmi’s family departed, Manamma discovered that her daughter’s gold and a substantial amount of money were missing from a table drawer where she had placed them the previous night.

The unfolding of events led to a shocking revelation – Lakshman, the groom-to-be, was no stranger to crime. With a history of theft and even murder in his past, suspicion fell squarely on him. The police conducted a thorough investigation that ultimately led to Lakshman’s confession and the recovery of the stolen items.

For Manamma, the betrayal was a harsh reality check, but justice was served in the end. As she reflected on the events that transpired, she couldn’t help but feel grateful that the truth had been exposed before her daughter’s life was irreparably damaged.
