Apple is gearing up for a significant start to 2025, fresh off the success of the iPhone 16. The tech giant is preparing to announce a new low-end iPhone SE and upgraded iPads, marking a major refresh to its entry-level lineup. According to industry insiders, the updated iPhone SE, codenamed V59, is nearing production and will serve as Apple’s most affordable option in the smartphone market.
The upcoming iPhone SE will receive its first major overhaul since 2022, when 5G capability was added to the device. This time, Apple is moving away from the traditional home button design, opting for an edge-to-edge screen more in line with its premium models. The design will resemble the iPhone 14, complete with the notch cutout at the top. This modernized look is expected to appeal to budget-conscious consumers who want the latest Apple aesthetics without the high price tag. The current iPhone SE starts at $429, making it a competitively priced alternative to other low-cost smartphones.
Apple is positioning the new SE to compete more effectively with Android rivals like Huawei and Xiaomi, particularly in markets like China, where the competition is fierce. In addition, the SE will support “Apple Intelligence,” an upcoming suite of AI tools that will also be available on the iPhone 16 and high-end versions of the iPhone 15. This new feature set could help Apple win back market share in the low-end segment.
In addition to the new iPhone SE, Apple is also set to release upgraded iPad Air models, codenamed J607 and J637, and an improved Magic Keyboard accessory for both the 11-inch and 13-inch versions. These new iPads will focus on internal improvements, further enhancing the user experience for Apple’s popular tablet lineup. The Magic Keyboard will bring some of the high-end features from the iPad Pro’s keyboard to more budget-friendly models, making the iPad Air an even more compelling option for consumers.
Apple is also working on a new iPad mini, codenamed J410, which is expected to launch by the end of 2024. Earlier this year, Apple introduced the M2 chip and a 13-inch screen option to the iPad Air, but the upcoming models are expected to build on these advancements, making them even more powerful and versatile.
Beyond the iPhone SE and iPad updates, Apple will refresh its Mac lineup, including new versions of the Mac mini, MacBook Pros, and iMacs. These will feature the M4 processor and introduce Apple Intelligence features across the Mac ecosystem. The M4 chip will also be integrated into the MacBook Air, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro by 2025, ensuring Apple’s computers stay at the cutting edge of performance.
With a packed schedule of new releases, Apple is set to dominate the tech landscape in 2025, offering innovative products at every price point.
