In a significant move to honor tradition and boost festive spirit, the Andhra Pradesh government has declared Dasara a state festival in eight prominent temples across the state. As part of this declaration, the government will offer Rs 50 lakh to each temple from the Good Fund to ensure grand celebrations of the Dasara festivities.

The temples chosen for this honor include the Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam in Vijayawada, Varalakshmi Narasimha Swamy Vari Devasthanam in Simhachalam, Veera Venkata Sathyanarayana Swamy Vari Devasthanam in Annavaram, Venkateswara Swamy Vari Devasthanam in Dwaraka Tirumala, the renowned Srikalahasti temple, Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Varla Devasthanam in Srisailam, the Paramahamsa Thalli Ammavaru temple in Parvathipuram Manyam, and the Manikyamba Sametha Swamy temple.

As part of the ceremonial traditions, the endowments department has announced that a government representative will present silk robes to the deity in each temple, elevating the spiritual significance of the event. These temples, each with rich cultural and religious history, will now enjoy the added honor of hosting state-backed festivities, ensuring that the grandeur of Dasara is preserved for devotees and pilgrims.

The decision to declare Dasara a state festival in these select temples further underlines the Andhra Pradesh government’s commitment to supporting the preservation of cultural heritage and encouraging large-scale celebrations that bring communities together. The government’s contribution will help facilitate the smooth conduct of rituals, enhance the temple atmosphere with special decorations, and offer an enriched spiritual experience to thousands of devotees during this sacred festival.

With this initiative, Dasara celebrations across these eight temples will be more vibrant than ever, offering devotees an opportunity to witness the true magnificence of these sacred places.
