The Central Government has been introducing a range of initiatives aimed at improving the lives of farmers, and one of the most significant among them is the PM Kisan Scheme. Spearheaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this program has been designed with farmers in mind, providing financial security to millions of them. The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme is one such initiative, launched in 2019, which has since become the largest Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme globally.
If you’re among the many farmers waiting for the 18th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, then your wait is finally over. Today, on October 5, Prime Minister Modi will release the 18th tranche of the scheme at a special event in Washim district, Maharashtra. A staggering Rs. 20,000 crore will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of 9.4 crore farmers across the country, offering vital financial support.
The program will be streamed via webcast, with around 2.5 crore farmers expected to tune in. In addition, 732 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), more than one lakh basic agricultural cooperative societies, and five lakh joint service centers will actively participate in the event.
Under the PM Kisan Scheme, the government deposits Rs. 6,000 annually into the bank accounts of farmers. However, this amount is disbursed in three installments of Rs. 2,000 each, making it a regular source of income. The scheme has played a critical role in providing timely financial assistance to farmers, ensuring their economic stability.
At noon, PM Modi will also unveil various programs related to agriculture and animal husbandry, with projects worth Rs. 23,300 crore. Later in the day, at 4 PM, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth more than Rs. 32,800 crore in Thane. Finally, at 6 PM, PM Modi will flag off a new metro train running between BKC Metro Station and Aray JVLR in Mumbai, even taking a ride from BKC to Santacruz.
With a significant focus on improving the lives of farmers, this installment of the PM Kisan Scheme is set to bring immense relief and financial stability to millions across India.
