Ratan Tata, the chairman of the Tata Group, recently lauded Visakhapatnam for its cleanliness and charm, describing it as one of the cleanest cities in India. Tata attended the Andhra University Alumni Meet as the chief guest on December 10, 2018, where he shared the stage with GMR Group Chairman and Alumni Association President, Grandhi Mallikarjuna Rao.
During his address, Tata highlighted the city’s impressive cleanliness, noting it as a model for urban development. He expressed admiration for Andhra University, revealing that his company is considering a collaborative research initiative with the institution. A special team from the Tata Group will soon visit the university to explore possibilities for a joint research program.
Tata encouraged the university’s leadership to intensify their research efforts, with a focus on interdisciplinary projects and industrial collaborations. “Andhra University has the potential to be a hub for innovation and academic excellence,” he stated, urging authorities to expand their research endeavors.
Reflecting on the alumni meet, Tata expressed heartfelt appreciation for his experience at Andhra University. He noted that he was especially moved by a classical dance performance organized in his honor, which he described as a beautiful representation of India’s rich cultural heritage. “I will forever cherish my moments at Andhra University,” he remarked, leaving a lasting impression on attendees.
