In the wake of his latest film Devara reaching the ₹500 crore mark at the box office, Jr NTR opened up about the mixed reception the film has garnered and how it compares to the success of his previous film, RRR. While Devara has performed impressively, Jr NTR voiced concerns about the way audiences engage with films today.
During an interview with Yuvasudha Arts, Jr NTR shared his thoughts on how moviegoers have become increasingly analytical. “We as an audience have become very negative these days,” he said. “We are not able to enjoy a film in an innocent manner anymore. We are watching every film today to analyze. We are all constantly judging, analyzing, and overthinking about films.” The actor emphasized that this shift impacts how films are experienced, comparing it to the innocent enjoyment his young sons, Abhay and Bhargav, experience when watching movies. “They don’t care who the actor is or what movie they’re watching, they just enjoy it,” he added.
Devara, which opened to a mixed critical reception, has sparked conversations about the trajectory of the film’s future. When asked about the film’s performance potentially influencing the fate of Devara 2, Jr NTR confirmed that the team had already filmed a few sequences for the sequel. “It would take us some time to make part 2 into something bigger and better,” he revealed, expressing hope that his director Koratala Siva would take time to rejuvenate before starting on the next installment.
Jr NTR also touched upon the possibility of his sons following in his footsteps. As the grandson of legendary actor NT Rama Rao and son of Nandamuri Harikrishna, Jr NTR shared how his family never imposed expectations on him regarding a career in film. “They gave me these imaginary boundaries and said this is your playing field, do what you have to do,” he reminisced. Though Abhay and Bhargav are still young, Jr NTR acknowledges that a future in films wouldn’t be surprising given their exposure to the film industry.
As Devara continues its journey in cinemas, fans are eager to see how the film will fare in the long run and what awaits them in the anticipated sequel.
