The Andhra Pradesh state government is set to establish a Ratan Tata Innovation Hub in Amaravati, aimed at bolstering industrial development. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu recently held a review meeting to discuss government policies on industrial development, MSME, and food processing sectors.
Naidu emphasized that generating employment remains the state’s top priority. “Industrial policies should align with employment generation and facilitate a conducive environment for the ‘Speed of Doing Business,’ thereby attracting more investments,” he stated.
The meeting also discussed the potential for private industrial parks, with Naidu suggesting that further study on this policy would be required before final Cabinet discussions. He underscored the need for an investor-friendly approach, instructing officials to focus on creating a welcoming environment for potential investors.
New policies are in the pipeline that include extending subsidies to attract investors. The draft industrial policy promises additional incentives for the first 200 companies that submit their consent for establishment and commercial production. Companies providing substantial employment opportunities will receive a 10% additional incentive.
In an innovative approach, the government is also considering offering industrial incentives through escrow accounts. This method aims to ensure consistent encouragement for industrial growth and better employment opportunities across the state.
The MSME policy will focus on the “One Family-One Industrialist” concept, encouraging family-run industrial ventures. Additionally, a proposal was approved to provide a 5% extra incentive for women entrepreneurs in the MSME and food processing sectors, further bolstering inclusivity in the state’s economic growth.
