Prashanth Varma, the visionary director behind the hit HanuMan, is setting his sights on a new level of visual storytelling. Known for his bold approach to filmmaking and his unique socio-fantasy concepts, Varma is reportedly in talks to establish a full-time team of Visual Effects (VFX) experts. This move comes as he prepares to bring a slate of socio-fantasy films to life, including Maha Kali, Simba, and the much-anticipated Jai Hanuman.
A source close to the director shared, “Prashanth is in discussions with some of the top VFX experts in the industry and is looking to build a dedicated team for his projects. Socio-fantasy movies demand anywhere from 1200 to 1600 VFX shots to create a convincing fantasy world and believable fictional characters that audiences can connect with. This requires a team of skilled professionals.”
The success of HanuMan demonstrated Varma’s commitment to quality VFX, which he achieved by collaborating with studios from Chennai, Mumbai, and even abroad. However, as he plans to expand his storytelling to a pan-India audience, he wants to bring his VFX team in-house to maintain creative control and ensure consistent, high-quality output.
“Initially, Prashanth plans to hire around 10 to 12 experts, with plans to gradually expand the team as his workload increases,” the source added. This strategic decision underscores Varma’s ambition to produce some of the most visually compelling films in the Indian film industry.
Prashanth’s upcoming projects are already generating buzz. Maha Kali is touted as India’s first woman superhero movie, which promises to be a trailblazer in a genre traditionally dominated by male characters. He’s also collaborating with Nandamuri Mokshagna for Simba, and the scale of his mythological epic, Jai Hanuman, is expected to be unprecedented.
With a full-time VFX team at his disposal, Prashanth Varma is positioning himself at the forefront of Indian cinema’s socio-fantasy genre, pushing boundaries and setting new standards. Fans and industry insiders alike are eagerly awaiting how these ambitious projects will unfold, as Varma continues to redefine visual storytelling in Indian cinema.
