In a bold operation against drug trafficking, authorities in Gujarat have made a significant seizure of narcotics valued at an estimated Rs 250 crore. The operation was conducted jointly by the Surat and Bharuch police at Awsar Enterprises in the Ankleshwar GIDC area of Bharuch district.
Details of the Seizure
During the inspection, officials seized 141 grams of MD drugs worth Rs 14.10 lakhs, while an additional 427 kg of suspected drugs was sent for testing to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). The comprehensive operation reflects the increasing efforts by law enforcement to combat the rising tide of drug-related crimes in the region.
Arrests Made
As part of this operation, three individuals have been arrested. Anand Choudhary, an officer from the Special Operations Group (SOG), confirmed that the raids were executed based on reliable intelligence. “The District SOG and Surat Police collaborated on this mission, and we are actively investigating further,” Choudhary stated. The drugs seized have been sent to the FSL for further analysis and identification.
Previous Operations
This seizure follows a significant operation on October 13, where authorities seized 500 kg of cocaine worth an astonishing Rs 5,000 crore from a factory named Avkar, also located in the same district. Additionally, the operation uncovered 40 kg of hydroponic cannabis. These operations highlight the relentless efforts of police to dismantle drug networks operating within the state.
The Growing Drug Problem
The recent spate of drug seizures in Gujarat underscores a troubling trend. Drug trafficking remains a serious issue, and law enforcement agencies are under increasing pressure to address the growing concerns of addiction and drug-related crimes within the community. The state’s police departments are intensifying their collaborative efforts to tackle this challenge head-on.
Conclusion
As investigations continue into these recent drug operations, authorities are hopeful that the insights gained from the arrests and drug testing will lead to further breakthroughs in the fight against narcotics in Gujarat. The public is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking to the authorities.
