Vijayawada Hosts India’s Largest Drone Show, Setting Five Guinness World Records

In an extraordinary celebration of technology and creativity, Vijayawada recently hosted India’s largest drone show, captivating an audience of 8,000 live attendees and countless others who watched from five massive screens set up around the city. The event, organized to promote public awareness of drone usage, took place at Punnami Ghat as part of the Amaravati Drone Summit 2024.

The evening began with a series of vibrant cultural programs, setting the stage for the main attraction. Over 400 companies participated in the summit, culminating in an impressive drone hackathon featuring various innovative themes. As night fell, the sky came alive with the spectacular performances of 5,500 drones, forming breathtaking images and patterns that left spectators in awe.

A Historic Showcase

The drone show, inaugurated by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, was not just a visual feast but also a record-breaking event. The drones painted stunning pictures in the sky, including:

  • The largest plane formation
  • The largest national flag display
  • The largest aerial logo
  • The largest landmark creation

In total, the event achieved five Guinness World Records, marking a significant milestone for Vijayawada and the state of Andhra Pradesh. After the show, CM Naidu was presented with official documents confirming the records by representatives of the Guinness World Records.

The aerial show featured a variety of themes that highlighted India’s cultural heritage and technological advancement. Among the mesmerizing formations was a tribute to the first airmail service from 1961, represented by an elaborate drone formation of an aircraft.
