According to information provided by Alwar-based VRB Consumer Products Pvt Ltd, their low-fat soft ice cream mix contains a staggering 61.2% sugar, with just 34% milk solids or skimmed milk powder, and 4.8% flavor mix along with salt. This revelation led the RAAR to classify the product as a ‘sugar-based’ item rather than a milk product, which means an 18% tax could be levied on it. Essentially, the primary ingredient is sugar, raising serious concerns about its impact on health.
