In an unexpected yet heartwarming moment, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, delighted patrons at Hyderabad’s Nilofar Cafe on Friday evening. The minister, known for his dynamic public engagements, decided to unwind at the iconic cafe located in Himayat Nagar, enjoying Hyderabad’s beloved maska bun and chai alongside National Secretary of SC Morcha S. Kumar, State Secretary Dr. Prakash Reddy, State Leaders Lankala Deepak Reddy, and Dr. Pullarao Yadav.

After a day of participating in a dharna at Indira Park to support Moose victims, the minister chose to stop by Nilofar Cafe. His casual visit drew the attention of patrons, who were taken aback by the sight of the central minister in such a humble setting, surrounded by his security detail. For the patrons of the cafe, it was an unforgettable evening as Bandi Sanjay took the time to speak with them, share a meal, and listen to stories.

The minister’s presence soon caught the attention of Nilofar Cafe’s owner, Baburao, who approached Bandi Sanjay to introduce himself. Sharing the story of his humble beginnings, Baburao explained how he started with a small tea and biscuit stall, gradually establishing Nilofar Cafe, which has become an institution in Hyderabad for its tea and maska bun. The cafe’s name, “Nilofar,” carries special meaning for Baburao, as he named it in honor of the blessings he felt his family received.

During the visit, Baburao offered Bandi Sanjay a taste of their sambar rice, a cafe staple made with pearls that has won the hearts of many. The minister complimented the meal and expressed admiration for Baburao’s journey from poverty to successful entrepreneurship. The Union Minister was particularly touched by the cafe’s tradition of providing free meals to families of hospital patients, a service that speaks to Nilofar Cafe’s community values.

Before leaving, Bandi Sanjay Kumar praised Baburao’s generosity and contributions to society, acknowledging how small acts of kindness can make a significant difference. His casual visit reminded the people of Hyderabad of the personal and human side of leadership, making for a memorable evening at Nilofar Cafe.
