Rajahmundry, a picturesque city on the banks of the Godavari River, is stepping up as a prominent tourism hub with the recent launch of a unique floating restaurant. Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh, alongside MLA Adireddy Vasu and MLA Bathula, inaugurated this boat-based dining experience to encourage tourism and celebrate the region’s natural beauty. With capacity to host between 300 to 400 tourists each day, this floating restaurant offers guests a memorable dining experience amidst the gentle flow of the Godavari.
Minister Kandula Durgesh remarked that the Andhra Pradesh government, under the leadership of CM Chandrababu Naidu, is prioritizing tourism development across the state, with special emphasis on Rajamahendravaram’s cultural and natural appeal. The floating restaurant is a reflection of this vision, providing locals and tourists with a space to unwind, enjoy the river’s beauty, and savor local flavors.
A Unique Dining Experience on the Godavari
The floating restaurant offers both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, drawing inspiration from the local cuisine of the Godavari region. It presents a fresh experience that differs from typical restaurant setups, as guests can now dine while being surrounded by the river’s tranquility. According to the organizers, the boat is also ideal for hosting special occasions, such as kitty parties and birthdays, adding a novel event option for locals.
Boosting Rajamahendravaram’s Tourism Appeal
Rajahmundry, also known as Rajamahendravaram, has long been famous for its spiritual and cultural significance. The establishment of this floating restaurant marks yet another milestone in its journey towards becoming a top tourism destination. Minister Durgesh announced plans for further tourism enhancements, including the introduction of spiritual bus services from Rajahmundry to six prominent shrines. A committee focused on spiritual temples has been set up to highlight the area’s rich heritage.
In addition, discussions are underway with Oberoi Group regarding the redevelopment of resorts in Picchuka Lanka, a lush island within the Godavari district. These efforts reflect the government’s broader commitment to developing Rajahmundry as a comprehensive tourism hub.
A New Chapter for Rajahmundry
The floating restaurant is already drawing interest from tourists across Andhra Pradesh and neighboring states. With initiatives like this, Rajahmundry is fast becoming a regional attraction, blending modern tourism experiences with spiritual and cultural tours.
As Minister Durgesh noted, the aim is to create a sustainable tourism model that respects Rajahmundry’s rich heritage while offering new experiences to visitors. With more developments expected in the near future, Rajahmundry is well on its way to cementing its status as a vibrant tourism hub in Andhra Pradesh.
