In a significant development, the Telangana government has acted against members of the Telangana Special Police (TGSP) who protested for their demands by boycotting their official duties. Additional Director General (ADG) Sanjay issued an order dismissing 10 officials and suspending 39 others involved in the agitation.

The protests, which included sitting on the road and staging a dharna, were deemed inappropriate for government employees. The state government emphasized that such actions violate the rules governing public service conduct. In a press release, the government stated, “To uphold the core values of Telangana Special Police (TGSP) and strengthen discipline, we are dismissing some personnel from service as they participated in informal agitations in public places across Telangana, including Hyderabad.”

Disciplinary Actions and Legal Provisions

The disciplinary measures have been taken in response to the disruption of duty caused by the protesting personnel. The action falls under Article 311(2)(b) of the Constitution of India, which allows for the removal of government employees who are found to have committed acts prejudicial to public interest. The government’s stance indicates a zero-tolerance policy for actions that bring the police system into disrepute.

The press note further clarified the government’s commitment to maintaining order and discipline within the police force, stating, “Such actions not only hinder the efficient functioning of the police department but also tarnish the reputation of the TGSP.”

Conclusion

The Telangana government’s strict response to the protests underscores its commitment to maintaining discipline within the police force. This action serves as a reminder to all government employees about the importance of adhering to their duties and the consequences of engaging in unauthorized protests. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how these changes will impact the TGSP and its personnel moving forward.
