The results of the Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (AP TET) conducted in July 2024 were released on November 4, with Education Minister Nara Lokesh announcing the results. This year, the pass percentage has seen a drastic decrease, raising concerns among candidates and educators alike.

Tougher Question Papers Lead to Lower Pass Percentiles

Experts attribute this decline to the increased difficulty of the TET question papers. Compared to the February 2024 TET exam, this round’s question papers were significantly tougher, which has adversely affected the overall pass rates.

Out of 3,68,661 candidates who appeared for the exams, only 1,87,256 managed to qualify, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 50.79%. This marks a notable decline from previous examinations, highlighting the challenges faced by candidates.

Detailed Breakdown of Pass Percentages

  • Paper 1 (A) – SGT Telugu and Minor Media: Out of 1,60,017 candidates, 1,04,785 (65.48%) passed.
  • Paper 1 (B) – SGT Special Schools: Out of 2,173 candidates, only 767 (35.3%) passed.
  • Paper 2 (A) – School Assistant Languages: Of the 55,781 candidates, 22,080 (39.58%) passed.

  • Paper 2 (A) – School Assistant Social Studies: Out of 60,442 candidates, 24,472 (40.49%) passed.
  • Paper 2 (A) – School Assistant Special Schools: The highest pass percentage was here, with 1,958 candidates appearing and 1,627 (87.09%) passing.

The Paper 2 (A) – School Assistant Special Schools recorded the highest pass percentage at 87.09%, while the majority of the remaining papers had pass percentages below 40%.

Concerns Among Candidates

The challenging nature of the TET has left many candidates worried about the upcoming District Selection Committee (DSC) exams. The general sentiment is that if the TET was this difficult, the DSC exams may be even more challenging.

The AP TET was conducted over a span of 17 days from October 3 to October 21 at various centers throughout the state, with approximately 4,27,300 candidates registered for the exam. Candidates can check their results on the official AP TET website.

Upcoming Mega DSC Advertisement

In related news, the advertisement for the Mega DSC, which will feature 16,347 posts, is set to be released on November 6, raising anticipation among aspiring teachers.

Conclusion

The significant decrease in pass percentages for the AP TET July 2024 highlights the need for careful consideration of exam difficulty and preparation strategies. As candidates prepare for future exams, it remains to be seen how these changes will impact the teaching landscape in Andhra Pradesh.
