In a heartfelt revelation, iconic 90s actress Meenakshi Seshadri recently shared a story about her experience working with filmmaker Rahul Rawail on the film Dacait. In a conversation with Friday Talkies, Seshadri recounted how Rawail once made her cry during the signing process by refusing to pay her full fee for her role.
Meenakshi was thrilled to work with Rawail, known for directing hits like Betaab, Arjun, and Love Story. She recalls how Rawail laid out his vision, emphasizing that Sunny Deol’s character and his family would be the central focus, but assured her that her role would feature strong content with beautifully shot scenes and songs. “He told me that the few scenes and songs I would be in would have great impact, and I didn’t need any further convincing,” she shared.
However, things took an emotional turn when it came to discussing her fee. “He made me cry during the signing,” Meenakshi said. Rawail insisted that the opportunity to work with him was the true reward, saying, “I won’t give you your price. You are working with me—that is your price. Whatever I will give, take it happily.” She admitted to being so in awe of the director that she agreed with a smile, even though she was in tears.
