To overcome this, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) introduced a groundbreaking service called *99#. This service allows you to make UPI payments and perform other banking tasks using a simple keypad phone, without requiring any internet access. Whether you’re sending money, receiving payments, checking your balance, or even setting up your UPI PIN, all can be done effortlessly without the need for an internet connection.

Steps to Make UPI Payments Using *99#

Here’s how you can send money, check your bank balance, and even manage your UPI PIN from your keypad phone:

  1. *Dial 99# from the registered mobile number linked to your bank account.
  2. Banking Menu: A menu with banking options will appear, displaying options like Send Money, Request Money, Check Balance, Profile, Pending Request, Transactions, and UPI PIN.
  3. Sending Money:
    • To send money, type 1 and press the send button.
    • Select the method to send money (mobile number, UPI ID, or bank account). After choosing, press the send button.
    • If using a mobile number, enter the mobile number linked to the recipient’s UPI.
    • Enter the amount you wish to send.
    • You can also add a message or comment along with the payment if needed.
    • Enter your UPI PIN to complete the transaction.
  4. Receive Money: You can also receive payments from someone by following a similar process, depending on the options provided.
  5. Check Your Balance: To check your account balance, select the Check Balance option from the menu.
  6. Set/Change UPI PIN: If you need to set or change your UPI PIN, you can do so by selecting the UPI PIN option from the menu.

How to Stop the Service

If you no longer wish to use this service, simply dial *99# again and follow the instructions to deactivate it.
