Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has taken a firm stance following an attack on the district collector and other officials on Monday. Reddy, currently in Delhi, addressed the media regarding the incident, emphasizing that those involved in the attack will face consequences. He also criticized any support given to the attackers, stating, “There is no question of sparing those who attempt to harm government officials.”

The incident occurred in Kondangal, Reddy’s own constituency, where resistance to a proposed pharma company has sparked ongoing tension. Local farmers have been vocal against land acquisition efforts, and the protests show no signs of abating. The land acquisition process and the establishment of the pharma company have divided the community, with protests escalating to a clash involving the collector and his team.

On Monday, the situation escalated when 55 individuals were detained following the attack on officials in Lagacharla. They were subsequently taken to Parigi Police Station. In a bid to prevent further unrest, internet services were temporarily suspended in six villages, including Lagacharla, Rotibanda, and Pulicharla, with heavy police presence in these areas.

During his media address, CM Reddy pointed fingers at the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), accusing the party of supporting individuals involved in violent acts against officials. Reddy dismissed the BRS’s allegations regarding the pharma company’s tendering process as unfounded, asserting that objections should be handled legally. He also pointed out that Srujan Reddy, the son-in-law of a BRS MLA, was connected to the unrest, hinting at potential actions pending the governor’s approval.

Revanth Reddy’s response underscores his administration’s commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring accountability in the face of unrest. As the situation unfolds, all eyes remain on the CM’s next steps as he seeks to balance industrial development with public sentiment in Kondangal.
