The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heavy rains and thunderstorms across parts of South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and the Rayalaseema region over the next three days. Residents in the districts of Bapatla, Prakasam, and Nellore in South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, as well as Tirupati, YSR Kadapa, and Chittoor in Rayalaseema, are advised to stay cautious as isolated heavy rainfall is expected.
This weather pattern is linked to an upper air cyclonic circulation over the southwest Bay of Bengal, situated off the North Tamil Nadu coast, extending up to 0.9 km above sea level. Although the previous low-pressure area has weakened, the cyclonic circulation continues to influence the region, contributing to the heavy rainfall forecast.
In addition to the rainfall warning, temperature updates over the last 24 hours have indicated highs of 34.5°C in Tuni, 33°C in Amaravati, and 33.6°C in Visakhapatnam, while other regions, including Ongole, Nellore, and Tirupati, recorded lower daytime temperatures ranging from 26°C to 27°C.
Residents in the alerted areas are encouraged to follow local updates and take necessary precautions, especially those in low-lying or flood-prone zones. With the forecast indicating possible thunderstorms, people should avoid unnecessary travel and ensure safety measures for electrical appliances. Stay informed, stay safe.
