Southwest Airlines Plane Struck by Bullet Before Departure at Dallas Love Field

Late Friday night, a Southwest Airlines plane preparing to depart from Dallas Love Field Airport was struck by a bullet, prompting immediate safety measures. Flight 2494, scheduled to fly to Indianapolis, experienced the incident at around 9:50 p.m. local time as the crew prepared for takeoff.

According to a Southwest Airlines spokesperson, the bullet struck the aircraft on its right side, just below the flight deck near the cockpit. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the passengers or crew members.

Following the incident, passengers were safely deplaned, and the plane was removed from service for further investigation. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that the aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, sustained damage from the strike.

Dallas Love Field Airport released a statement saying that Dallas Police and Dallas Fire Rescue responded swiftly to the situation. Law enforcement agencies have been notified, and investigations into the incident are underway.

At this time, the motive and source of the bullet are unclear, and additional details have not been made available. Southwest Airlines and the FAA assured passengers that safety remains their top priority, and all necessary precautions are being taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
