Prashant Neel, the director behind the massive pan-India hits KGF and Salar, has now penned the story for another high-octane action thriller, Bagheera. The film, starring Sri Murali in the lead role, was released as a Diwali gift on October 31 and saw huge box office collections in Kannada. However, despite its success in the Kannada market, Bagheera did not make a significant impact in Telugu cinemas, failing to stand out amidst other releases like Barilo Ka, Lucky Bhaskar, and Amaran, which garnered positive reviews.
Now, the movie is making its way to OTT just 20 days after its theatrical release. Netflix has acquired the streaming rights for this pan-India action thriller, and the film is now available in Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, and Tamil. This quick move to the digital platform is noteworthy, as OTT giants like Amazon Prime and G5 usually dominate the market for Kannada films. However, Netflix has shown an increasing interest in Kannada cinema and has acquired several films in the past, and Bagheera is now part of this exclusive list.
Directed by Dr. Suri, Bagheera features a strong supporting cast including Prakash Raj, Achyut Kumar, Rangayana Raghu, and Garuda Ram, along with Sri Murali and Rukmini Vasanth. The film is produced by Hombale Films, known for their high-budget productions. The music was composed by Ajanish Loknath, adding to the film’s intense atmosphere.
While the movie has performed decently at the box office in Kannada, its reception in Telugu was lukewarm due to an emphasis on action over a compelling storyline, which led to disappointing expectations. For Telugu audiences, the film’s action-heavy narrative failed to strike a chord, but for fans of high-intensity action sequences, Bagheera offers plenty to enjoy.
