When Is Darsha Amavasya?

This year, Darsha Amavasya falls on Saturday, November 30, according to the Udaya Tithi. The tithi begins at 10:29 AM on November 30 and ends at 11:50 AM on December 1. The rituals are performed on the night of November 30, with worship done as per the Amavasya Tithi.

Remedies and Rituals for Darsha Amavasya Night:

  1. Lighting a Mustard Oil Lamp under the Ravi Tree:
    On Darsha Amavasya night, it is considered auspicious to light a mustard oil lamp under the Ravi tree while making a prayer for the fulfillment of all desires. This act is believed to bring prosperity and relief from life’s hardships.
  2. Releasing a Ghee Lamp in Water:
    A ghee lamp should be lit in the evening and released into a river or pond. This symbolizes the offering to ancestors, and it is said to bring peace to their souls, gaining their blessings.
  3. Worshiping Lord Shiva:
    Offering water to Shivalinga and presenting Bilva Patra on Darsha Amavasya is considered very auspicious. This ritual is said to bring the special blessings of Lord Shiva (Bhole Nathu) and fulfill wishes.
  4. Worshiping Goddess Lakshmi for Wealth:
    On the night of Amavasya, worshiping Goddess Lakshmi can bring wealth and prosperity. It is believed that her blessings will ensure financial stability and success.
  5. Worshiping Lord Vishnu for Fulfillment of Wishes:
    Lord Vishnu’s worship on Darsha Amavasya ensures that one’s wishes are fulfilled. This ritual helps bring peace and success, as well as remove obstacles from one’s path.
  6. Worshiping Lord Ganesha for Success:
    Lord Ganesha is worshipped to bring success in all endeavors, especially for tasks that have been stalled. Worshiping Ganesha is said to remove obstacles and bless individuals with smooth progress in their efforts.
  7. Donations and Charity:
    Donating food, clothes, and essentials to the poor on Amavasya day is considered an act of great virtue. Feeding a cow also brings merit and is seen as highly auspicious. Those who donate on this day are believed to receive spiritual rewards and blessings.
  8. Chanting “Om Namah Shivaya” Mantra:
    Chanting the Om Namah Shivaya mantra on Darsha Amavasya day is considered a powerful practice to calm the mind, remove negative energies, and set a positive tone for the day.
