Who is PV Satyanarayan Raju?
PV Satyanarayan Raju hails from Goganna Mutt village in Mamidikuduru Mandal, Konaseema District. For the past 15 years, he has been living in Kakinada’s Venkata Nagar with his family. Raju’s father, Ramesh Raju, is a shrimp trader, while his mother is a homemaker. Cricket runs in the family, as Raju’s younger brother, Pandurangaraju, is also a cricketer.
Ramesh Raju’s passion for cricket inspired him to ensure his sons had the opportunities he never did due to family responsibilities. Relocating to Kakinada, he provided them with training and support, enabling them to excel on the field.
Raju’s Cricketing Journey
Raju’s journey began on the Rangaraya Medical College grounds, where he played for the East Godavari District Cricket Association. His talent was evident when he first played in a zonal under-14 match, eventually earning a spot on the state team.
He pursued his studies at Aditya Degree College in Visakhapatnam and completed his MBA in Chennai. Raju’s cricketing credentials grew stronger over time:
- He played two Ranji Trophy matches last year.
- Represented Andhra in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, showcasing exceptional bowling.
- Excelled in both Vijay Hazare Trophy ODIs and T20 matches.
The Mumbai Indians Connection
Among the 15 players proposed by the Andhra Cricket Association, PV Satyanarayan Raju caught the eye of IPL scouts. His performance led to him being picked by the Mumbai Indians in the auction for ₹30 lakhs. This selection marks a major milestone in his career.
