In the second qualifier of the Andhra Premier League, Rayalaseema Kings lost to Vizag Warriors by 7 runs at the Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, and they were eliminated from the competition.
Earlier in the day, the Vizag Warriors were sent to bat. Munish Varma paid the Warriors an early punch in the first four overs when he was removed for 12 early in the innings.
The two in form players, K. S. Bharat and Ashwin Hebbar, then combined to score 83 off 49 balls. Muvvala Yuvan’s last-minute 12-ball 24 helped the Warriors score 190.
In response, Thanneru Vamsi Krishna was easily removed by the Kings for 7 runs in the third over. The Warriors bowled exceptionally effectively, and Ashwin Hebbar, the interim captain, did a fantastic job organizing his team.
Due to their inability to generate momentum in the middle as the needed run rate increased, the Kings continued to lose wickets on a regular basis. The Rayalaseema Kings captain Girinath Reddy and wicketkeeper Gutta Rohit then contributed 59 runs off just 36 balls in the fifth wicket partnership, which put the Kings back in the game.
Kodavandla Sudharsan, the tournament’s top wicket taker, ended the partnership. Shaik Kamaruddin’s lightning-fast strike of 22 off 7 balls proved to be in vain as the game I played came right down to the wire.
Brief Scores: Rayalaseema Kings 183 for 7 in 20 overs (G. Rohit 44, Girinath Reddy 27, Sk Kamaruddin 22, K. Sudarshan 2/36) against Vizag Warriors 190 for 5 in 20 overs (Ashwin Hebbar 81 n.o, K. S. Bharat 53, M. Yuvan 24, Girinath Reddy 2/30, M. Anjaneyulu 2/29).
