Devotees witnessed a rare incident of a cobra coiling around the Chandra Lingam behind the Vajra Gangamma temple near the Pathalaganga in Srisailam temple town on Tuesday morning.
Priests and others visiting the small temple to offer prayers and Abhishekam were astonished to see the cobra, considered Lord Shiva’s Kanthabharanam (neck- lace), encircling the Shivalingam.
Devotees who witnessed the event expressed wonder. Vedic scholars refer to this as Nagabharanam, and the devotees were amazed to observe this phenomenon directly.
According to K. Ramesh from Bairlutygudem in Atmakur mandal, “Hindus worship snakes as incarnations of Lord Subrahmanya, and this is a rare incident.” The sight of the large cobra, its hood fully extended, coiled around the lingam astounded us; it was truly amazing.”
Because the incident occurred so close to the auspicious Toli Ekadashi Wednesday, many devotees saw the cobra’s presence as auspicious for the holy day. A few followers recorded videos with their phones and posted them to social media, where the video is now extensively shared.
