GSI intends to increase geotourism and develop locations in Kurnool as historical landmarks.
The goal of the Central government’s publicity campaign is to raise awareness of geotourism and help Orvakallu’s rock gardens gain international renown.
During a recent visit, representatives from the Geological Survey of India (GSI) captured the unique characteristics and varied geo-graphical conditions of the area using both high-resolution and drone-enabled videography.
Interesting shaped natural structures first appeared in Kurnool’s Rock Gardens area thousands of years ago. Surprisingly, the location has rocks atop the hills that are shaped like arches, turtles, and bunnies, among other things.
Special attraction status also goes to the valleys. The region was created as Rathivanam during the preceding era of Telugu Desam. As a result, there was a noticeable rise in visitor arrivals and movie production. “These diverse areas will now be developed as ‘geo- heritage sites.”
The tourism department officials stated that as the Central government is now taking the lead in developing geotourism, GSI officials have visited the region and are using high-resolution photography, drone-enabled videography, and other media to highlight the unique features of these locations. Additionally, short films are being produced against this backdrop in an effort to draw foreign visitors.
Prominent ecotourism destinations like the Nallamala forests, the Nawab bungalow, and historical monuments like the Belum and Valmiki caves can all be found in the Nandyal district. There are plans to create travel packages that include these places.
Nandyal tourism officials are putting up travel packages for two to three major locations each day in an effort to draw tourists.
“We are keen to generate revenue from the tourism sector by providing facilities and daily package tours,” stated G. Raja Kumari, the collector for Nandyal.
There is an expectation that a considerable number of devotees will visit the district’s shrines during the next months of Shravana and Kartika. The coll lector stated that efforts are underway to develop a circuit package encompassing every temple in the district.
