The Telugu Desam-led NDA alliance government led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will launch Anna Canteens throughout Andhra Pradesh on August 15 and serve food at a basic price of five, according to Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development Ponguru Narayana.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday at the state secretariat in Velagapudi, Amaravati, the minister noted that the TD government had established 183 canteens throughout the state during its last term in office. For just 25, these canteens provided food to 2.25 lakh people each day. Nevertheless, all of the Anna Canteens were shut down when the YSRC government took office. It operated ward secretariat offices and storage areas on the grounds of Anna Canteens.
According to Narayana, all of the Anna Canteens should be operational by August 10 in order to begin providing free food on August 15.
He brought up the fact that Akshaya Patra Sansthan used to provide excellent food through the Anna Canteens in the past. According to him, tenders for providing food in the same way and at the same prices have also been accepted, and food delivery will begin on July 22.
Through a video conference, the minister met with commissioners from 106 municipalities and 17 municipal corporations in the state, directing them to take action to stop the spread of infectious diseases.
He claimed that higher cases of diarrhea have been reported this season in the Piduguralla municipality’s Lenin Nagar and Maruti Nagar because residents in these areas ended up drinking contaminated water as a result of underground pipes leaking sewage and drinking water. People who drank this tainted water experienced diarrhea.
